Page 117 Jaat- Majh Mahalla 3- ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਥਾਪੇ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੇ ॥ The Gurmukh realizes that the Lord alone creates, and having created, He destroys. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ॥ To the Gurmukh, the Lord Himself is social class, status and all honor. ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੮॥੧੨॥੧੩॥ O Nanak, the Gurmukhs meditate on the Naam; through the Naam, they merge in the Naam. ||8||12||13|| Page 142 Jaat- Majh Mahalla 1- ਜਾਤੀ ਦੈ ਕਿਆ ਹਥਿ ਸਚੁ ਪਰਖੀਐ ॥ What good is social class and status? Truthfulness is measured within. ਮਹੁਰਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਥਿ ਮਰੀਐ ਚਖੀਐ ॥ Pride in one's status is like poison-holding it in your hand and eating it, you shall die. Page 259 Varna- Gauri Mahalla 5- ਵਰਨ ਚਿਹਨ ਸਗਲਹ ਤੇ ਰਹਤਾ ॥ O Nanak, one who becomes Gurmukh chants the Name of the Lord, ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜੋ ਕਹਤਾ ॥੪੬॥ Har, Har, and rises above all social classes and status symbols. ||46||
